The study specifically looked at side-swipe and head-on crashes where injuries were reduced by twenty one percent, as noted in police report data while the addition of blind spot detectors further reduced accidents with injuries by twenty three percent.
The author states:
“Given the large number of fatal crashes that involve unintentional lane departures, technology aimed at preventing them has the potential to save a lot of lives.”
